Fresh talent meets the furniture industry

In late August, the Museum of Furniture Studies hosted a matchmaking event between the young designers featured in the Ex-Works 2025 exhibition and representatives from the Swedish furniture industry.

The event took place in our temporary pop-up space in Älmhult. It was an inspiring afternoon where students presented their projects to the invited professionals.

As museum manager Eva Lilja Löwenhielm says, the exhibition provided a perfect backdrop for a meaningful discussion about the future of design:

”The 2025 exhibition brought together a wide variety of expressions, techniques, and material choices. There were innovative solutions to old problems and poetic interpretations of contemporary and conceptual questions that push the boundaries of what a piece of furniture can be. Together, they formed a snapshot of a new generation of designers who are conscious, courageous, and questioning.”

Antonio Citterio

Italian Antonio Citterio is one of the big international names in contemporary furniture design. During his career Citterio has designed architecture, furniture and objects for companies such as Flexform, Espirit, Vitra, B&B, Kartell and Flos.

MDM Talks #10: We talked with the designer, Adrian Bursell. In 2020, Adrian graduated from Konstfack. For his graduation project, Sticks & Stones: Souvenirs from Öland, he designed a side table called "Lilla Alvaret".
