A seminar on Female Design.

With this November seminar the Museum of Furniture Studies focused on a major structural problem; the gender imbalance in the Swedish design- and furniture industry.  Two of the seminar speakers, Swedish design journalists Ingrid Sommar and Susanne Helgeson, have separately highlighted the fact that despite the majority of today´s design students being women, 76% of professional furniture designers are men. The 160 people strong audience got to listen to several interesting speakers and together debate opportunities for a better balance in the future design industry. Alongside this debate, examples were given of several of today´s successful female furniture designers and their work.
