Rebecca Magyar is a designer whose work is defined by a strong sensitivity to materials and their ability to shape human experience. With a background in Design and Innovation Engineering from Karlstad University and an MFA in Design from HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg, she combines technical understanding with a distinctly intuitive, hands-on approach. Her expertise spans industrial design, CMF, and advanced material development, including work within automotive design and wearable safety products.
At the core of her practice is a material-driven process where design is discovered through experimentation, prototyping, and direct engagement with physical matter. This sensitivity to process and material behavior allows her to create work that feels both precise and deeply human.
Her project The Triangular Dinner highlights her ability to translate complex social dynamics into spatial and material form. By carefully orchestrating objects, geometry, and surfaces, she investigates how design can influence interaction, power structures, and communication in shared environments. The project also demonstrates her capacity to move between intuitive making and structured, system-based design, using controlled frameworks to explore behavior and movement.
Magyar’s work is further shaped by collaborative and exploratory contexts, including an international residency at KulttuuriKauppila Art Centre in Northern Finland, where she engaged in collective practices centered on intuition, movement, and material exploration, culminating in a public exhibition.
