Martin Thübeck has a master’s degree in furniture design and interior architecture from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm. Thübeck’s degree project was called Ubiquitous Matter in which he focused on some of Sweden’s oldest industrially produced raw materials- copper, hide, and birch wood and how they are used in production of today. The result was objects and furniture that highlights the unwanted part of the materials.
In 2019, Thübeck was one of the winners of the Young Swedish Design award by Svensk Form with the armchair Lobster, which also gave him a scholarship from IKEA. In 2020 he was honored with the Hans Johansson Award for his degree project from Konstfack.
A drawer from Ubiquitous Matter made of birch wood and paper strings, was a part of the Ex-Works 2020 exhibition at the Museum of Furniture Studies.
