Lasse Kannegieter Elsenburg was born in the Netherlands and studied a bachelor's in wood-oriented furniture design at HDK-Valand Campus Steneby. For his degree project Elsenburg traveled to the Norwegian Island community of Træna, located right on the Arctic Circle. As a part of Træna 365, an architectural and multipurpose site, Elsenburg Kannegieter designed a steam-bent chair that reminisce the community’s history, diversity, and resilience.
