Being able to express myself through colour, form and pattern has always felt like home. Since childhood, I’ve known that creative work was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Furniture making has always been close to my family’s heart, but I had no idea I would follow the same path until my teenage years, when I discovered a love for woodworking in school. That’s when I decided to become a furniture designer. In 2019, I was accepted to Steneby Folk High School to study Woodcraft and Furniture Carpentry. I spent two years there before applying to HDK-Valand in 2021, where I wanted to reconnect with my artistic spirit and explore design on a deeper level. I believe what I create should have meaning – I always ask myself why I’m making something. I enjoy diving into my projects, exploring ideas and experimenting. My work must involve sustainability, craftsmanship and emotional connection. Take Hälla, for example – why make a flat surface to rest on, when it can be adjustable, more useful, and better for the body? I want my designs to last for generations – it’s good for the soul, and even better for the planet.
